The nose is open and very expressive. On swirling, a rich wine is revealed with ripe, black fruits coming to the fore. The oaky notes are discreet and very elegant. The entry on the palate is smooth and velvety. An explosion of fruit flavours then invades the palate. The wine is concentrated, fleshy and opulent, while the tannins are fine and tight-knit. The new oak of the barrels is totally absorbed by such a structure. The palate develops with precision and elegance, and the finish is pleasant and lingering.

The 2014 Lascombes is a bold, dramatic wine. Dark stone fruit, leather, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, licorice and French oak all meld together in the glass. Lascombes is a powerful, modern Margaux with soft contours and considerable fruit intensity. All the elements come together effortlessly. Readers should expect a bold, intense wine. Tasted two times.
