After a clean entry on the palate, the wine reveals a powerful yet elegant structure. Fruit flavour comes largely to the fore, and the tannins are smooth.

The 2015 Chevalier de Lascombes comes across as very ripe, with quite a bit of oak influence that also introduces an element of slight oxidation. I would prefer to drink the 2015 sooner rather than later, while the inky fruit retains at least some freshness. Leather, smoke and licorice are laced into the finish. The Chevalier is 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot.
