Lascombes

2012 {(currentVariant.size?' | ':'')} {( currentVariant.size )}
Margaux, Medoc, Bordeaux, France
Type Red
Grape Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Drink Now/Cellar
2nd Growth

It displays a pretty bouquet of well-ripened red and black fruits mingling with subtle, smoky notes, such as toasted bread and roasted coffee beans. After a fresh entry on the palate, the wine's powerful yet elegant structure comes to the fore. The balance between alcohol, acidity and concentration is maintained. Fleshy and velvety on the mid-palate with fine, already coated tannins. The wine has amazingly integrated the vintage's 80% new oak, which delicately accompanies the black fruit flavours. The finish is long and promises great ageing potential.

meat:
Beef, Game, Sausages
cheese:
Blue cheese, Goat cheese
Reviewer: Ian d'Agata

Medium red-ruby. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, espresso, licorice and vanilla, plus a hint of mocha reduction. Enters the mouth lush, sweet and deep, offering an almost glyceral texture that's lifted by harmonious acidity. The blackberry and sweet spice flavors are straightforward and clean, but seem a little diffuse on the big, broad finish. This is a successful Lascombes in the context of the vintage.
