Maison Marchand Tawse, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru

Charmes Chambertin, Cote de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Type Red
Grape Pinot Noir
Cellar
Grand Cru

"Once again there is just enough wood to merit pointing out framing the spicy and airy essence of red currant, baked plum and warm earth. There is excellent density to the larger-scaled and caressing but notably powerful flavors that coat the palate with sap before terminating in a mocha-inflected, lengthy and balanced finish. This is quite good and while it should certainly age well, it should also drink well young." - Allen Meadows

Goat cheese
VEGETABLES:
Mushroom
Reviewer: Neal Martin

The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a high-toned bouquet that sported a little VA. The palate is sweet and chewy on the entry, featuring black plum, raspberry coulis and light truffle notes, but it is missing some delineation on the finish.

about the brand
Maison Marchand Tawse

Marchand Tawse is a name to watch over in the next few decades in Burgundy, owned by native Quebecois Pascal Marchand and his Canadian fellow Moray Tawse. Pascal has a reputation as one of the finest winemakers in Burgundy. He has been receiving excellent critical recognition with Burghound’s Allen Meadows recently declaring himself very favourably impressed following a tasting in Pascal’s cellars. All of Pascal's wines are made biodynamically with a natural and sustainable viticulture practice. The team has birthed a new fusion style of wine with elegant, satiny, and aromatic burgundies that are both true to their varietal and terroir - Marchand-Tawse was born.
