Maison Marchand Tawse, Gevrey Chambertin, En Pallud

2021 {(currentVariant.size?' | ':'')} {( currentVariant.size )}

Gevrey Chambertin, Cote de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Type Red
Grape Pinot Noir
Reviewer: Neal Martin

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin En Pallud comes from a 0.66-ha parcel albeit with a number of missing vines that are gradually being replaced. It is often one of my picks from the Domaine and indeed the appellation and this is another to add to the canon of over-performing vintages. It has a wonderful, very engaging nose with brambly red fruit, undergrowth and touches of orange blossom - so seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, pixelated like I found the 2020 twelve months ago with a finish that is detailed and surfeit with tension. This year, the En Pallud is a significant step up from the Village. Crystalline.

about the brand
Maison Marchand Tawse

Marchand Tawse is a name to watch over in the next few decades in Burgundy, owned by native Quebecois Pascal Marchand and his Canadian fellow Moray Tawse. Pascal has a reputation as one of the finest winemakers in Burgundy. He has been receiving excellent critical recognition with Burghound’s Allen Meadows recently declaring himself very favourably impressed following a tasting in Pascal’s cellars. All of Pascal's wines are made biodynamically with a natural and sustainable viticulture practice.The team has birthed a new fusion style of wine with elegant, satiny, and aromatic burgundies that are both true to their varietal and terroir - Marchand-Tawse was born.
