The 2013 La Mondotte wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth. Resonant and expressive, the 2013 is a wine of pure texture. The 100% new barrels are impeccably integrated, which in and of itself is remarkable. Today, the fruit is quite primary, but the 2013 has all of the requisites to develop into a gorgeous wine. The malos are always late, and the wine is therefore naturally a bit raw at this stage, but it offers significant potential. Yields came in at just 8 hectoliters per hectare. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, all brought in between October 1 and 10. The 2013 saw 28 days on the skins and is aging in 100% new French oak barrels. There is a lot to look forward to here.
