Omtis Fine Wines is proud to announce its appointment as the exclusive distributor for Chateau Musar, Lebanon's most celebrated wine estate, across the Hong Kong and Macau markets on 15th May 2026. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Chateau Musar in Hong Kong and Macau, as Omtis Fine Wines assumes responsibility for bringing the estate's unique, non-interventionist wines to connoisseurs across the region.

Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, Chateau Musar remains a family affair now in its third generation. When Serge Hochar took over from his father in 1959, he began shaping a legacy that would put Lebanese wine on the world map. Studying under Emile Peynaud at the University of Bordeaux, Serge developed a distinctive, non-interventionist style that produced wines of remarkable character and individuality, wines that would soon captivate critics worldwide.

The first international recognition came in 1979 at the Bristol Wine Fair, where eminent critic Michael Broadbent propelled Musar into the spotlight. In 1984, Serge became the first ever "Man of the Year" awarded by Decanter, a testament to his visionary approach. Through fifteen years of civil war in Lebanon, he navigated the winery to global acclaim, becoming not just a producer but an ambassador for his country, a philosopher winemaker driven by passion, spirituality and an unwavering belief in letting wine make itself.

Following Serge's passing in 2014, his brother Ronald assumed the presidency, ensuring the family philosophy endured. Today, the third generation includes Gaston (Serge's son) Managing Director overseeing winemaking, Marc leading sales and marketing and Cousin Ralph involved in exports, and carries forward the same dedication to natural, minimal-intervention wines that express the ancient terroir of the Bekaa Valley.

“My father was a visionary who ensured Musar’s philosophy would pass to the third generation, and we remain committed to that legacy. Now we are delighted to partner with Omtis Fine Wines, a fourth-generation family business built with the same integrity, patience, and long-term vision that drives Musar. Like Serge, Raymond Bera was a pioneer who understood that great wine is a story passed down through families, not just sold. That shared spirit — of legacy, trust, and patience — gives us full confidence in expanding the Musar brand across Hong Kong and Macau together,” said Marc Hochar.

"We are truly honoured to welcome Chateau Musar into the Omtis Fine Wines portfolio," saidPhilippe Bera, Executive Director of Omtis Fine Wines. "This is an estate that needs little introduction to seasoned wine lovers, a true original with decades of history, character, and soul in every bottle. The Hochar family's commitment to natural winemaking and their remarkable ability to produce wines of such individuality and age-worthiness is something we are thrilled to share with our clients in Hong Kong and Macau."

Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Bekaa Valley, where vines have been cultivated for over 6,000 years, the Chateau Musar portfolio is distinctive in every sense. The red wines blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan, while the remarkable whites are crafted from ancient indigenous varieties, Obaideh and Merwah. All are farmed organically and produced according to a non-interventionist philosophy, resulting in wines of profound complexity that reward cellaring for decades.

The
flagship Chateau Musar Red and White (released only in their seventh year) will be available through Omtis Fine Wines from mid-June onwards. The full range including Musar Rose, the approachable and vibrant Musar Jeune series, the food-friendly Hochar Pere et Fils and Levantine, as well as the anis-based traditional spirit l’Arack de Musar are expected to be available in the Summer.
