The 2016 Chambertin Grand Cru has a slightly paler colour than the Mazy-Chambertin. It has much more Pinot Noir expression on the nose with red cherries, raspberry and touches of rose petal and wild hedgerow. This is easily the best aromatic profile amongst the six Rebourseau 2016s tasted. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins: crisp black and red fruit mixed with briary and touches of undergrowth. It lacks a little length and frankly, it is priced too high for the quality, but it is the pick of this Domaine’s wines in this vintage. Tasted from an ex-domaine bottle in London.
