The 2017 Lions de Batailley is quite rich and dense, especially for a second wine. Super-ripe dark red cherry, plum, lavender, licorice and spice infuse this succulent, racy Pauillac. Immediacy wins the day over subtlety, but then again this expressive second wine does exactly what it is supposed to.
