Maison Louis Jadot, Meursault 1er Cru, Les Charmes

(from vines in Les Charmes-Dessous, at roughly the same position on the hillside as Jadot's Puligny-Montrachet Referts; Jadot made two-thirds of a normal crop in 2016): Very pure, discreet scents of lemon, white peach, apple and minerals. A distinctly generous, pliant wine with lovely texture and depth but also harmonious framing acidity to its citrus and orchard fruit flavors. A very successful Charmes with a seamless texture and a long, slowly mounting aftertaste without any rough edges. Jadot took control of this vineyard in July of 2017 with their purchase of Domaine Prieur-Brunet, 10 of whose 17 hectares of vines are in Santenay, including 5 of Pinot Noir in Santenay La Maladière.
